International Women’s Day 2022
March 8, 2022

Julie McCann, founder of Masters in Minds, shares her own views on International Women’s Day, and what the day means to her:

The International Women’s Day 2022 theme “let’s choose to challenge” is in most women I’ve met. Whatever their job (mum to CEO) it’s part of our makeup. Challenge isn’t about feisty confrontation – sometimes it’s putting one foot in front of the other in tough times. Women are superhuman at this. Traditionally, men provided and women nurtured – many women now do both. It’s this diversity of experience needed in business to create sustainable change and not just at the top.

This International Women’s Week we recognise the Work from Home struggle!

It was heartening to see that the FTSE 350 firms have reached their target of women making up 33% of boards by 2020. It’s a start but I’d argue on the journey to the top (whatever that might look like for you) female talent is lost and confidence often knocked. We can choose to challenge but how do we remain resilient to forge an equal world in business? I’d encourage you share your stories of challenge in your business – 33% representation shows there is still 77% to play for!

International Women’s Day has inspired me to reignite Sisterhood & Stories, and the Women In Business networks on LinkedIn, as a space to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness against bias and act for equality.

I look forward to supporting our community so all can thrive.

Enjoy your week!

Julie
